Updates for Louisiana’s EITC Labor Law Poster

February 13, 2014

Louisiana’s Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) poster has been updated with the new eligibility requirements to participate in the EITC program. This poster is mandatory to display for all employees and must be updated.

Earned income tax credits help to reduce federal income taxes for employees making below the maximum income limit. The IRS stipulates that employers must notify employees making below the maximum income limit, currently $47,000, that they may potentially qualify for EITC. These limits were previously set at $46,000. The new poster, issued by the Louisiana Workforce Commission, reflects these changes.

The revised Louisiana EITC poster lists these new income limits based upon size of household:

- For employees with three or more qualifying children, the income limit has been raised to $46,9977 for single tax returns or $52,427 for married couples filing jointly.

- For employees with two qualifying children, the income limit has been raised to $43,756 for single tax returns or $49,186 for married couples filing jointly.

- For employees with one qualifying child, the income limit has been raised to $38,511 for single tax returns or $43,941 for married couples filing jointly.

- For employees with no qualifying children, the income limit has been raised to $14,590 for single tax returns or $20,020 for married couples filing jointly.

The new poster also displays information about resources available through the IRS, including a toll-free number for those who have questions about the EITC program.
